What is Truth on Tour?
Truth On Tour is a global collective of artists working together to raise awareness of the persecution of Falun Gong in China. The majority of artists are musicians who came to practice Falun Gong, developing a deeper understanding of the practice, and its ongoing persecution.
Truth On Tour is a non-profit organization, with our first initiative being the release in 2014 of a compilation CD of original, contemporary music.
What is Falun Gong?
Falun Gong is a mind/body cultivation practice that emphasizes the refinement of one’s nature by assimilating to the universal principles of Truth (Zhen), Compassion (Shan) and Tolerance (Ren).
The practice is also referred to by its formal name, Falun Dafa (Law Wheel, Great Law), especially among practitioners.
Why is Falun Gong Persecuted?
A leading authority on the persecution is the Falun Dafa Information Center (FDIC), established over a decade ago to provide information on the persecution to those outside China. Here is their explanation, found on the website:
“Why did the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) ban Falun Gong?” “Why does the Chinese government see Falun Gong as a threat?” Many wonder this when they hear of what is happening in China.
The most basic answer is that there is no good explanation. When a regime like the Chinese Communist Party’s decides to launch a brutal, costly campaign of abductions, torture, and killing against 100 million meditators, it is difficult to fathom what might have motivated such an irrational, destructive choice…
Who are Truth On Tour Artists?
The artists involved cross many borders, are from different walks of life and various mediums. The artists on the Truth On Tour Vol. 1 CD are contemporary musicians who have been touched by stories of persecution coming out of China, and the overall tragedy of oppressing such peaceful, good people. The formation of Truth on Tour: Artists Against the Persecution of Falun Gong is a natural and spontaneous response to this ongoing crisis.
Some artists are more casual with their art, while others are committed to professional careers and development. All are passionate about sharing their art, and exposing the persecution.
Why Should I Care?
Human rights are by definition, universal. When abused, this threat to our very humanity is a concern for us all.
Practicing Falun Gong and living according to the principles of Truth, Compassion and Tolerance are an individual’s choice, and freedom of belief is a fundamental human right. The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) has used the most brutal and despicable methods in history to target the mind, body and spirit of Falun Gong practitioners. Such a violation should be exposed, and stopped.
