Truth haunts from the start with a mournful, yet beautifully melodic opening track. ‘Be The Voice’ is from Belle who has gotten together with fellow artists purveying various musical styles. Each contributes one song, appealing in their own special way for truth and justice in the matter of China’s continuing persecution of the spiritual group Falun Gong.
Belle’s personal plea, made against ethereal guitar riffs and clear, lonesome piano runs is not un-reminiscent of First Aid Kit’s ‘The Bell’ from their wonderful latest album, Stay Gold.
Bob Marley and reggae fans will love Malcolm Wilson’s ‘Righteous Generation’ and Neil Young fans should check out Leadville Jim’s ‘A Heart Divine’.
Reflecting the unmistakable and much loved human empathy that pervades the music of greats like Emmylou Harris and Gram Parsons, and in voices every bit as lovely, Randall and Sara Effner make you smile with their sincere musicality on country genre gem, ‘Plum Blossoms in the Snow’. The mystical, traditional violins in the backdrop also hit the sweet spot point-blank.
